A city ferry network had grown pier by pier for forty years. Every sign was different, and first-time riders couldn't tell which boat went where.

The problem

The problem

Forty-one piers, three operators' worth of old signage and a timetable printed in 8-point type. Tourists missed sailings, and locals had stopped trusting the boards.

What we did

What we did

We gave each route a colour and a number you can read from the water, redrew the network as a single line map, and built a timetable site that answers one question: when is the next boat from here?

missed-connection complaints

New signs went up across all 41 piers in one winter. Weekday ridership rose 38% in the first year, and missed-connection complaints fell by more than half.

People stopped asking our crews which boat to take. That was the whole brief, and they nailed it.
